Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling will be eying the sixth term as the Election Commission of India announces the results for the 32-member state legislative Assembly on Thursday, May 23. The Sikkim Assembly elections were held simultanously with the Lok Sabha elections. Key political parties in Sikkim'ss are SDF, SKM, Congress and Humro Sikkim Party (HSP). Since 1985, the state has been governed by stable governments -- first led by Nar Bahadur Bhandari’s Sikkim Sangram Parishad and then by Pawan Kumar Chamling’s Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF). SKM wins five seats, leading in 4, SDF ahead in 5

The opposition SKM won five Assembly seat and is leading in four other constituencies while the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front is ahead in five as per the data available on Election Commission of India's website.

SKM candidate Mani Kumar Sharma wins Khamdong-singtam Vidhan Sabha seat by defeating Garjaman Gurung of SDF with a margin of 873 votes.

SKM wins Sangha seat, leading in 8 seats, SDF ahead in 4

Morcha (SKM) won the Sangha Assembly seat and is leading in eight constituencies while the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front is ahead in four, election officials said. The 'magical number' in the 32-member Sikkim Legislative Assembly is 17. 

SKM's Lok Nath Shara leading in Gyalshing-barnyak

SKM candidate Lok Nath Shara is leading against his nearest SDF rival Laxuman Sharma in the Gyalshing-barnyak seat.

SKM extends lead, ahead in 7 seats now

SKM has extended its lead over CM Chamling's party to 7. SDF is ahead in just two seats.

SKM takes lead in 6 seats, SDF ahead in 2 seats

According to the Election Commission of India, SKM is leading in 6 seats while Chamling's SDF is ahead in just 2 seats.

SDF supremo and Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling, who contested in Poklok Kamrang and Namchi Singhithang assembly constituencies, is leading in both the seats.

Sikkim CM Pawan Kumar Chamling leading in Poklok-Kamrang

SDF's Pawan Chamling, Dichen Wangchuk Bhutia, Narendra Kumar Subba, Tashi Thendup Bhutia and Tshering Lama are leading in Poklok-Kamrang, Yoksam-Tashiding, Maneybung-Dentam, Barfung and Sangha Assembly constituencies, respectively.

Sikkim set to elect 8th Legislative Assembly

These are the eighth Legislative Assembly elections in Sikkim, probably India's first poverty free state. Assembly polls in Sikkim were held on April 11. The state has one Lok Sabha seat and 32 Assembly seats.
