Election authorities in Puducherry have lodged a complaint with police against ruling AINRC legislator P Karthikeyan for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.
Chief Electoral Officer V Canadavelou told PTI today that the flying squad who were on a routine surveillance in Oussudu reserved constituency that Karthikeyan represents found the legislator along with 70 others canvassing votes door-to-door in the constituency beyond 10 pm yesterday.
This was a violation of the model code and hence a complaint was filed against the legislator and 70 others, the official said.
Canadavelou said the total number of polling booths in the Union Territory would be 930 although originally it was planned to have 913 polling stations.
