No alliance with AINRC, says AIADMK in Puducherry

Seeking to put a lid on speculations, the AIADMK unit here today said it would not have any truck with the ruling AINRC for the May 16 assembly elections in the union territory.

Secretary of the Puducherry state committee of AIADMK - P Purushothaman - said it was only a “baseless rumour” spread by some sectins that his party has firmed up an alliance with the AINRC.

Addressing a meeting of party workers, he said there was no truth in the talk and there was no alliance with the AINRC.

He said Chief Minister N Rangasamy had already shown his “ingratitude by ditching” the AIADMK while forming the government after the 2011 assembly polls which the parties contested in alliance.

AINRC appears to have been left alone and has not yet announced its poll strategy.

BJP, which fought the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in tie-up with AINRC, has announced it would go it alone in the coming polls, saying it cannot wait indefinitely for AINRC’s decision.

The union territory is poised for a multi-cornered contest with DMK-Congress combine, and PWA also in the fray.
