Weeks before the ensuing Assembly elections in Telangana, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday appointed Jetti Kusum Kumar as the Working President of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). The addition came a day after the Congress constituted nine committees and named two other working presidents of the state unit.
A Revanth Reddy, who left Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to join Congress late last year, and former Member of Parliament Ponnam Prabhakar were appointed working presidents of the TPCC Wednesday.

Besides, the Congress Wednesday released its second list of 10 candidates for Telangana assembly elections. The party also released a list of 65 candidates on Monday which suggests that state party chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy would be contesting from the Huzurnagar constituency.
Elections to the Telangana assembly will be held on December 7, and the last date for filing nominations is November 19. The counting of the votes will be taken up on December 11, 2018.

The Congress is seeking to oust K Chandrashekar Rao-led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the southern state. They are also seeking to consolidate support from Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which walked out of the ruling NDA earlier this year after the Centre denied special status to Andhra Pradesh.
