Piaggio India today officially announced the launch date of the new Ape three-wheeler range, called the Ape City Plus. Notably, the new Piaggio Ape City Plus will be launched on June 14 and this will be the newest addition to the mid-body segment three-wheelers. You must be waiting for it, Aren’t you?

In the invite sent by Piaggio, the three-wheeler maker has also confirmed that at the launch, it will talk about upcoming technology in Piaggio products and its future plans for the Indian market. As India is all set to role out Bharat Stage VI / BS6 transitions from April 2020 onwards, it is expected that the automaker will reveal its plans for it and maybe even electrification.

Piaggio India claimed that with the new Ape City Plus, the company will address its customers' needs perfectly in the last mile segment, suitable for both cities as well as the rural markets.

Currently, Piaggio India offers three models i.e. the Ape City, the Ape Auto Plus and the Ape City HT. The Ape City comes in two engine choices - petrol and diesel, while the Ape Auto Plus comes with three fuel options - petrol, CNG and LPG. The petrol variant is powered by a 197 cc that produces 10 bhp and 17.6 Nm of peak torque, along with a fuel efficiency of 29.43 kmpl.

However, the same motor in the CNG version makes 9.6 bhp and 15.3 Nm of peak torque, with a mileage of 27.36 km/g. The LPG version churns out 10.46 bhp and 16.7 Nm torque with a fuel efficiency of 22.7 km/g. In the meantime, the diesel model comes powered by a 435 cc oil burner which gives out around 8 bhp and develops 21 Nm of peak torque with the fuel efficiency of 32.32 kmpl.
