The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp Monday said it has signed Colombian footballer Yerry Mina as its new brand ambassador. Mina's signing comes at a time when Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to introduce a series of new, technologically advanced and stylish two-wheelers in Colombia, including new premium motorcycles and higher-powered scooters, the company said in a statement. Commenting on the development, Hero MotoCorp Head of Strategy, Performance Transformation & Global Business Rajat Bhargava said: "Colombia is one of our key global markets and we are confident that Yerry Mina will add a lot of value to our brand building initiatives there."

He said the company is constantly engaging with global youth icons that are inspiring a new generation of young achievers as it rapidly expand footprints across continents.

The 24-year-old Mina is one of the promising young footballers and delivered impressive performances for the Colombian national football team during 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and his clubs, including current club Everton in the English Premier League.

He joins other illustrious sports persons, including golfer Tiger Woods, Argentinian football icon Diego Simeone and Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, as brand ambassador of Hero MotoCorp.

"I have always been quite impressed with the extensive support that Hero MotoCorp extends to multiple disciplines of sports across the world. I am glad to be a part of the large and diverse Hero family," Mina said.

In 2016, Hero MotoCorp set up its first international facility at Villa Rica, in Cauca province, Colombia. The plant has a capacity to produce 80,000 units of two-wheelers, employing nearly 1,000 people directly and indirectly.

Hero MotoCorp currently sells 10 products across segments of motorcycles and scooters in Colombia, including the recently launched premium motorcycle - Thriller 200R.
