The BS6 version of Honda Shine was recently launched in India at a starting price of Rs 67,857 (ex-showroom Delhi). It is to be noted that Honda Shine BS6 shares the same engine as Honda SP 125 and the motorcycle is mated to a new 5-speed transmission and fuel-injected engine. It is worth mentioning here that BS-VI (BS6) emission regulations are set to kick in India from April 1, 2020.

At the launch, Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) President, CEO and Managing Director Minoru Kato said the next generation Shine BS-VI, "unleash another quiet revolution in 125cc motorcycle segment and further strengthen our business expansion in India". "The company has already sold 2.5 lakh units of BS-VI compliant two-wheelers," he added.

HMSI Senior Vice President Yadvinder Singh Guleria said that the Shine model has sold more than 8 million units. "With Honda's superior technology, 5-speed transmission and new features, Shine BS-VI offers 14 per cent more fuel efficiency. The Shine BS-VI shall start arriving at our network towards the end of February 2020," he added.

Honda Shine BS6: Specifications & Features

Under the hood, Honda Shine BS6 comes equipped with a fuel-injected, 125 cc engine that churns out 10.72 bhp at 7,500 rpm, and 10.9 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. According to a report of NDTV’s carandbike, Honda Shine BS6 also gets Enhanced Smart Power (eSP), with a silent starter, using the AC generator to charge the battery, eliminating the need for a conventional starter motor.

As for the features on Honda Shine BS6 are concerned, there's a new two-way engine start-stop switch, an integrated headlamp beam, and passing switch, as well as updated graphics, along with a new instrument cluster design.

The Honda Shine BS6 is available in two variants - with the option of a front drum brake or front disc brake. The new Honda Shine comes in Black, Geny Grey Metallic, Rebel Red Metallic, and Athletic Blue Metallic colours.
