Indian FTR 1200 S and the FTR 1200 S Race Replica have been launched in the country. While the price of Indian FTR 1200 S has been set at Rs 15.99 lakh, the FTR 1200 S Race Replica costs Rs 17.99 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, India). Bollywood star R Madhavan was also present at the launch event. It is worth mentioning here that this is the official launch of the two motorcycles in India although Indian Motorcycle had already announced the prices of the two bikes in December last year.
Notably, Indian Motorcycle India have already started accepted bookings and interested customers can go to Indian dealerships and book the motorcycles by paying a token amount of Rs 2 lakh.
Based on the FTR 750 racing motorcycle, the FTR 1200 S and the FTR 1200 S Race Replica comes with round headlamp and tear-drop shaped fuel tank. The bike also features a performance enhancing Akrpovic exhaust system. The two motorcycles has a 19-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel with dual-sport tyres.
The FTR 1200 S and the FTR 1200 S Race Replica has a six-axis IMU and Bosch stability control, three riding modes, wheelie control, and a stability program that also takes into account the lean angle. The FTR series comes equipped with a new liquid-cooled 1,203cc V-twin engine that churns out 120 bhp and 112.5 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The FTR 1200 S features Bosch stability control with a six-axis inertial sensor along with lean sensitive traction control and ABS, three riding modes (Sport, Standard and Rain) and a 4.3-inch full-colour touchscreen instrument console.
The colours available are black, silver/black, red/grey, and Race Replica. The FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica compete with the BMW R NineT Scrambler and the Ducati Scrambler 1100.
