The Maruti Suzuki launched its all-new Swift in the Auto Expo 2018 on Thursday.
The popular hatchback is an all-new version with exciting features and new looks. The much-awaited all-new Swift ranges between Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 8.29 lakh in an ex-showroom price range.
The company had opened the bookings for the vehicle last month. The new Swift is based on Suzuki’s 5th generation HEARTECT platform.
Both petrol and diesel variants are available for the car in a different price range. The petrol option will have a 1.2-litre engine, while the diesel variants will have a 1.3-litre engine.
Addressing the media at the launch, Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, said, “For the first time, Swift comes with the convenience of Auto Gear Shift, the highly popular two-pedal technology.” According to Ayukawa, the company has moved forward in the last few years.
The new Swift comes with more wider space and cabin space, with a longer wheelbase, more headspace and luggage space than the outgoing generation.
The car comes with advanced safety options like dual airbags, and ABS with EBD, among others.
The luggage space has been increased by 58 liters, which is around 28 per cent more than the previous one, along with 24 mm headroom.
The parent company, Suzuki, spent around Rs 800 crore on the development of the new Swift, and the car will be produced from the Gujarat plant of Suzuki.
