BMW M5 Competition, the sportier sibling of the M5, ha finally arrived in India at a whopping price of Rs 1.55 crore. Yes, you read it right. It is to be noted that BMW M5 Competition, which is available in a petrol variant, will be sold at all BMW dealerships across the country as a Completely Built-Up model from October 10.
“The M Division has always catered to the highest aspirations and imagination of our performance-oriented customers. Those who seek the rush of racetrack adrenaline in daily life don’t look beyond the BMW M models,” The New Indian Express quoted Rudratej Singh as saying. It is worth mentioning here that Rudratej Singh is a president and chief operating officer of BMW Group India.
“The new BMW M5 Competition takes the hallmark M performance to the next level and raises the bar for performance, agility and precision within its class,” he added.
BMW M5 Competition comes equipped with the 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 motor that belts out 616 bhp at 6000 rpm and 750 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. BMW M5 Competition also comes with the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system with DSC and xDrive modes which enables the driver to choose between the 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD mode.
The M5 Competition include BMW Efficient Dynamics featuring brake energy regeneration, auto start-stop function, a new differential transfer case with optimised warm-up behaviour and aerodynamics.
Other features it include dynamic stability control (DSC) including anti-lock braking system (ABS), automatic stability control (ASC), M dynamic mode (MDM), cornering brake control (CBC), dynamic brake control (DBC), dry braking function and active M differential.
Also, the M5 Competition gets M exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps to minimise the exhaust pressure creating a throaty roar exhaust note along with optimising the efficiency.
On the outside, the M5 Competition features a radiator grille, wing mirrors, rear apron, rear spoiler and side air vents. The side air vents comes with high-gloss black and it also wear the Competition badge.
On the inside, the M5 competition gets MW Gesture Control, BMW Display Key, Wireless Charging, BMW Head-Up Display and Wireless Apple CarPlay. Also, an ‘M Competition’ graphic appears in the instrument cluster display during start up. It further gets Surround Sound system from Harman Kardon with 16 speakers and 600 Watts of output.
On the safety features front, the M5 competition is loaded with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Automatic Stability Control (ASC), M Dynamic Mode (MDM), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dry Braking function and Active M Differential.
In India, BMW M5 competition will compete against the likes of Mercedes-AMG E 63S and Audi RS7 Performance.
