Have you applied for a FASTag for your vehicle? If not, then you will have to do it before December 15, 2019. It is to be noted that if your vehicle does not have a FASTag, then you will have to pay twice the normal rate at toll gates across the country. Yes, you read it right.
Affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle, FASTag enables a customer to make the toll payments directly from the account linked to it. Notably, FASTag is a device that uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly while the vehicle crosses the toll plaza.
FASTags are issued by 22 certified banks including Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC, SBI, Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank, Yes Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bank Of Baroda, and others. FASTags can also be availed by various channels such as Point-of-Sale (POS) at National Highway toll plazas.
Interestingly, FASTags are also available on e-commerce platforms such as Amazon. For any assistance related to FASTags, one can call on the helpline number issued by the government – 1033.
It is worth mentioning here that the FASTag offers the convenience of cashless payment along with benefits like - savings on fuel and time as the customer does not has to stop at the toll plaza.

According to Transport Ministry, over 70 Lakh FASTags have been issued by November 27. "Over 70 lakh FASTags have been issued till date, with the highest per-day issuance of 1,35,583 tags on November 26, 2019, whereas 1.03 lakh tags were issued on the day before. The average daily issuance has grown by 330 per cent from 8,000 in July to 35,000 tags sold in November 2019," the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement.
