Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the first full-time Budget of the Modi 2.0 government on Thursday, announced Rs 2 per litre hike in prices of petrol and diesel. The PM Modi-led central government raised the special additional excise duty and road and infrastructure cess each one by Rs 1 a litre on both petrol and diesel. With this, fuel prices across the country will witnesses a significant rise, given to the fact that Petroleum products, being cash cows for the exchequer, fetch huge revenue. In the meantime, Nirmala Sitharaman announced the reduction of GST rate on EVs from 12 per cent to 5 per cent. Besides, the government will give an additional tax benefit of Rs 1.5 lakh on the interest paid on the loans taken for the purchase of the electric vehicles.

Tata Tigor EV
Tata's first all-electric vehicle, the Tigor EV, has been launched in India and will be available in the XM and XT trim levels. Tigor EV XM trim is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) while the XT trim will cost Rs 10.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Both the prices are ex-showroom and include TCS, DPCC incentive (in Delhi only) and government FAME incentive.
Tata Tigor EV is available in white, blue and silver colour options. It is powered by 72 V 3-Phase AC Induction Motor that churns out 30 kW (41 PS) and 105 Nm of torque. The car comes with a 16.2 kWh battery capacity and does 0-60 km/hr in 12 seconds. The Tigor EV can hit a top speed of 80 km/hr and has a certified full charge range of 142 km. 0-80 percent of normal charging takes 6 hrs while fast charging for 0-80 percent with 15 kW charger takes 90 mins.
The Tigor EV is also equipped with dual front airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors. Interestingly, these safety features ensures compliance with the new norms that come into effect on July 1, 2019. Apart from these features, the XT variant comes with 14-inch alloy wheels and electronically adjustable ORVMs.
Other features on both the electric trims include driver's seat height-adjust levers, power windows, body-coloured bumpers and door handles, LED tail-lamps, a climate control system, and a Harman built 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity.
Also, Tata Motors is offering a three-year/ 1.25 lakh kilometre warranty with the vehicle and the battery pack.
Mahindra eVerito
Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the electric car named as ‘Mahindra eVerito’. It is available in six variants -- C2, C4, C6, D2, D4 and D6. Mahindra eVerito is equipped with a 3 Phase AC induction motor that churns out 42 hp and 91 Nm of torque. It is mated to a direct drive gearbox.
The C2, C4 and C6 trims of Mahindra eVerito get a 13.91 kWh lithium-ion battery and have a range of 110 kms. On the other hand, the D2, D4 and D6 variants of Mahindra eVerito make use of 18.55 kWh lithium-ion battery and have a range of 140 kms. Also, Mahindra eVerito gets a two year or 40,000 kms warranty, with the battery having a warranty of 3 years or 36,000 kms.

Mahindra e20 Plus
Mahindra & Mahindra has also launched the electric car named as ‘e20 Plus’. The car comes in three variants i.e. P2, P4 and P6. Mahindra e20 Plus is powered by a 3 Phase AC induction motor that churns out 26 hp and 70 Nm of torque. It is mated to a direct drive gearbox.
The P2 variant Mahindra e20 Plus houses a 15 kWh lithium-ion battery with a range of 140 kms. On the other hand, the P4 and P6 trims of Mahindra e20 Plus get an 11 kWh lithium-ion battery with a range of 110 kms.
The electric four-wheeler comes with a 3-year and 60,000 km car and battery warranty. Mahindra e20 Plus is available in the range of Rs 6 lakh and Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
