The Gurugram Police recently purchased few Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPVs into its fleet and now has received six brand new Mahindra Scorpio from a non-governmental oraganisation called Society for Safe Gurugram. However, the details about the variant of Scorpio is still unknown and all the six SUVs were inducted into Gurugram’s police fleet on the February 22 2019.

Mahindra Scorpio is being used by police department of several other states already and is available in five different variants, S3, S5, S7, S9 and S11.

The base model of Mahindra Scorpio S3 comes with a 2.5-litre M2DICR turbocharged diesel engine which produces 75 bhp of power and 220 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a rear wheel drive option which is standard in all variants.

The price of the base model begins from Rs 10.09 lakhs and is one of the best seller amongst all the other variants. However, its higher variants are powered by the mHawk engine which can produce maximum power of 140bhp and 320 Nm of torque and is mated with a 6-speed transmission.

It also comes with a 9.1 Bosch ABS system which offers enhanced high-speed braking, with enhanced technology features like the reverse parking camera with dynamic assist, 1-touch lane change indicator and auto window roll-up.

The Indian SUV automaker recently discontinued the sale of its automatic variants from its popular SUV Scorpio.

When contacted, a Mahindra & Mahindra spokesperson confirmed the development. "The automatic transmission that served the Scorpio well for all this time has come to the end of its cycle," a company spokesperson told PTI.
