Hyundai India sold more SUV than its popular hatchback in the month of January 2019. Yes, you heard it right, Hyundai sold more Creta than Grand i10 and the difference was of just 29 units. Hyundai Creta became the second best-selling car in the last month as the carmaker sold 10,314 units which is almost 3,000 units more than December 2018. Hyundai sold 10,285 units of Grand i10 in the month of January 2019 which is 1,165 units less than December 2018 sales.
Hyundai i20 was still the number one car for the company and Grand i10 secures the third spot. The facelift variants of Hyundai i20 helped the premium hatchback to increase the sales number for the company. In the month of December 2018, Hyundai i20 became the best-selling car in the Indian automobile market surpassing Maruti Suzuki’s popular hatchback Swift and Baleno.
The South Korean automaker witnessed 1 per cent growth in January 2019 by selling 45,803 units in which is almost 300 units more than the sales figure of the company in the same month last year.
Hyundai is expecting increase in the sales figure again as the company is all geared up to launch a compact SUV in the Indian market, Styx.

Apart from this, Hyundai is also working on the next generation of Grand i1 and is expected to unveil the new hatchback during the festive season.
Meanwhile, Hyundai will have to introduce some more features and specs in its Creta as the competition is expected to be tight in the segment as Nissan has already launched Kicks and Tata has introduced Harrier in the Indian market.
Nissan has already sold 1,300 units of Kicks in the first month and Tata has sold more than 400 Harrier in the segment.
Hyundai Creta is available in both petrol and diesel engine variants, starting from Rs 9.5 lakh to Rs 15.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It also comes with both automatic and manual transmission options.
