Hyundai is set to launch the third-generation of the Grand i10 model named as ‘Grand i10 Nios’ in India on August 20. And now, it is reported that the Hyundai has kick started production of the vehicle at its Chennai facility and the first car has rolled out of the company’s plant. It is to be noted that Hyundai has started bookings for the grand i10 Nios in India across its dealerships in the country. The booking amount for grand i10 Nios has been set at Rs 11,000.
Commenting on the first production roll-out, S S Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, "This is a proud moment for us at Hyundai, with over 2.7 Mn Happy Customers the i10 brand (i10 and GRAND i10) has been one of the most loved hatchback in India. And today we are set to create history again with the Global First - roll out of 3rd Generation GRAND i10 NIOS, which will set new benchmarks in the hatchback segment while creating Brilliant Ownership experience for our customers".
The new Grand i10 Nios comes in a dynamic look. The upfront of the grand i10 Nios gets "cascading grille". The rear looks sporty with the low and wide proportioned bumper. On the inside, the cabin of grand i10 Nios is compact yet spacious with the upper C pad appearing to be floating on the lower C pad.
The Grand i10 Nios will come equipped with one petrol and one diesel engine option. The 1,197cc 4-cylinder petrol motor will produce 83PS and 116Nm. The petrol motor will be BSVI compliant at launch. On the other hand, the 1,186cc 3-cylinder diesel engine churns out 75PS and 194Nm. However, Hyundai says that this and the diesel motor will be retuned for improved low-end performance and better fuel efficiency. Both engines will be available in two options i.e. with a 5-speed manual gearbox and also with the 5-speed automatic transmission (AMT).
The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios will be available in six colours - Fiery Red, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Aqua Teal and Alpha Blue. When it launches, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios will compete against Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Tiago and Ford Figo in the Indian market. Prices are expected to be Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 over the current Grand i10.
