With the launch of Hyundai Kona for a price of Rs 25.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the carmaker has finally entered the Indian electric vehicle space. Hyundai Kona will be available in the country through the CKD route.
It is to be noted that Hyundai Kona is India's first fully electric SUV. So far, the EV choices were limited only to Mahindra e20 Plus, Mahindra eVerito and Tata Tigor EV.
Not only powerful, but Hyundai Kona is efficient too. It looks sporty and is loaded with bunch of features. As the electric SUV is launched in India, here are the specifications details you need to know about it.
On the designing front, the Hyundai Kona comes equipped with an impressive design with closed-off front grille having intaglio pattern with an integrated charging port and twin headlight design. It further comes with an LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED rear lamps and 17-inch alloy wheels. Other features it include roof rails and rear spoiler.
It gets monotone colour options such as Marina Blue, Phantom Black, Polar White and Typhoon Silver. There is Polar White with Phantom Black roof dual-tone option as well and it comes at a premium of Rs 20,000.
On the interior, the Hyundai Kona gets a premium cabin with leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and soft-touch dashboard. Also, there is a multi-function steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls. It further has a touchscreen infotainment which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Features like electric sunroof, front ventilated and heated seats, 10-way power driver seat with lumbar support, electric parking brake with auto hold and fully automatic temperature control (FATC) adds to the luxury quotient of Hyundai Kona.
Hyundai comes in two battery options i.e. 39.2 kWh and 64.0 kWh. The power and torque output in standard trim is 136 hp and 395 Nm respectively. The electric SUV has a top speed of 155 kmph, while an ARAI-certified range of Kona is 452 kms per full charge. Powering the motor is a 39.2 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery with liquid-cooling technology. The SUV gets Eco+, Eco, Comfort and Sport driving modes and is capable of making 0-100 kmph in just 9.7 seconds.
Hyundai Kona has a 3-year/unlimited kms warranty along with 3 years of roadside assistance. There is an 8-year/1.60 lakh kms warranty on the battery. Besides, Hyundai is offering 24x7 emergency roadside assistance and service vehicle to vehicle charging support.
Hyundai Kona can be charged up to 80 per cent in 57 minutes through the DC Quick Charger CCS Type 2 (50 kW). The carmaker will also provide two chargers with Kona i.e. a 7.2 kW AC Wall Box Charger and a 2.8 kW Portable Charger. The 7.2 kW AC Wall Box Charger will take around 6 hours and 10 minutes for a full charge, while the 2.8 kW Portable Charger will take 19 hours to completely juice up the battery.
