New Delhi:

Hyundai Motor India on Tuesday announced its sales report for June 2019. The company has reported a 3.2 per cent decline in cumulative sales to 58,807 units in June this year. The auto maker had sold 60,722 units during the same month last year. It is projected that the company’s growth was affected due to the slump in the Indian auto market.

In a statement, Hyundai Motor India said that out of the total sales, 42,007 units were disposed of in the domestic market during the June month this year. The figure was 7.3 per cent lower than 45,314 units sold by the company in June 2018.

Despite the poor performance in the Indian market, the export sales of the company grew by 9 per cent to 16,800 units in June 2019. The company had exported 15,408 units during the corresponding month of the previous year.

In May 2019, Hyundai Motor India's domestic volumes witnessed a decline in May 2019 at 42,502 units, dropping by 5.6 per cent as against 45,008 units sold in May 2018.

Hyundai Venue was launched on May 21 for an introductory price of Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Within a month of its launch, the compact SUV had received over 33,000 bookings, the company had reported last month.

In the meantime, Hyundai's rival Maruti Suzuki India has reported a fall of 14 per cent in total monthly sales to 1,24,708 units during June 2019.

Other thane Venue, Hyundai motor has Santro, Grand i10, Elite i20, i20 Active, Xcent, Verna, Elantra, Creta and Tucson in its line up in India. The car maker also has a few new products lined up for a launch this fiscal that will include the Kona Electric SUV and the Tucson facelift.

Interestingly, Hyundai India has further repositioned itself as the country's first smart mobility solutions company, diversifying its presence in other vehicle categories.
