New Delhi:

Hyundai Venue, one of the most awaited SUVs of the year, was launched in India on May 21. However, the company commenced pre-booking of the SUV on May 2 and has so far received over 17,000 bookings. Massive, isn’t it? It is to be noted that the milestone has been achieved by the company in less than 24 days. Hyundai also announced that the Venue has garnered over 80,000 enquiries from potential customers. Well, hasn’t Hyundai Venue has kick-started its Indian innings with a bang?

The prices of Hyundai Venue start at Rs 6.50 lakh for the base petrol version, going up to Rs 11.10 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India) for the range-topping automatic variant.

Notably, the Venue is available in both petrol and diesel engines with the petrol being offered with the dual clutch transmission. The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor generates 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a dual-clutch transmission while a six-speed manual is also on offer.

The 1.4-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel produces 89 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, automatic version in diesel variant is not on offer. On the other hand, the Venue is also available in the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol (gasoline motor). It churns out 82 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque, which is paired with only a 5-speed manual transmission.

Other features include an electric sunroof, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, Arkamys sound system, air purifier, wireless charging and wheel air curtains.

Interestingly, the takeaway in the Hyundai Venue is the Connected Car tag that comes from the embedded eSIM for the connected tech that Hyundai calls BlueLink. The eSIM is powered by Vodafone-Idea. Also, the new feature offers access to functions like remote start, climate control, geofencing, SOS alert, Indian-accented English voice assist system and much more.

As far as the safety features are concerned, the Venue offers six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with reverse camera, ESC, Hill Launch Assist and more.

Talking about the dimensions, the length and width of Hyundai Venue is 3,995 mm and 1,770 mm respectively. The height and wheelbase of MG Hector are 1,590 mm and 2,500 mm respectively.

In India, Hyundai Venue will compete against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Ford Ecosport and Tata Nexon.
