New Delhi:

Hyundai Venue has been one of the most successful launches of the year 2019. The top-selling subcompact SUV from the South Korean carmaker is likely to get the 1.5-litre diesel engine that was recently introduced with the newly launched Kia Seltos. Yes, you read it right.

According to a report of NDTV’s carandbike, the new oil burner will replace the Venue's existing BS4 complainant 1.4-litre diesel engine, ahead of BS6 emission norms kicking in, as the latter is likely to be phased out. The 1.5-litre motor powering the Kia Seltos, on the other hand, is already BS6 compliant, making it an ideal choice for the Hyundai Venue.

Kia Seltos gets 1.5-litre VGT (Variable Geometry Turbochargers) diesel engine that churns out 113 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. In the Venue, however, Hyundai is expected to offer a less powerful version of the 1.5-litre oil burner, without the Variable Geometry Turbochargers, which will belt out 89 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque, replacing the 1.4-litre diesel engine. Hyundai is also expected to introduce the more powerful 1.5-litre VGT diesel engine with the updated Creta and Verna.

Coming back to the Hyundai Venue, the subcompact SUV was launched for an introductory price of Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom) in India on May 21, 2019. As of July this year, Hyundai Venue is the top-selling car in Hyundai India's line-up with 9,585 units sold in India last month. Hyundai Venue rivals like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Mahindra XUV300. Hyundai Venue has left behind both the compact SUVs so far as July 2019 sales are concerned.

Hyundai Venue comes in both petrol and diesel engines with the petrol being offered with the dual clutch transmission. The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor generates 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a dual-clutch transmission while a six-speed manual is also on offer. It comes in four trims - E, S, SX and SX(O).

The 1.4-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel produces 89 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, automatic version in diesel variant is not on offer. On the other hand, the Venue is also available in the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol (gasoline motor). It churns out 82 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque, which is paired with only a 5-speed manual transmission.

Talking about the dimensions, the length and width of Hyundai Venue is 3,995 mm and 1,770 mm respectively. Other features include dark chrome front grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, projector fog lamps, LED tail lamps and diamond cut alloy wheels. As far as the safety features are concerned, the Venue offers six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with reverse camera, ESC, Hill Launch Assist and more.

The prices of Hyundai Venue start at Rs 6.50 lakh for the base petrol version, going up to Rs 11.10 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India) for the range-topping automatic variant.
