Remember Bajaj Chetak scooter? It ruled the Indian roads once, isn’t it? Unfortunately, the scooter has been missing the Indian roads since 2006. Well, Bajaj Chetak scooter is coming back. Yes, you read it right. According to the media reports, Bajaj Chetak scooter will soon make a comeback in a new avatar.
Recently, Bajaj Auto got its scooter brand 'Chetak' re-registered and since then the buzz of this household scooter's arrival has gone strong. However, Bajaj Chetak scooter is likely to be equipped with automatic gears. Previously, Chetak was seen in the advertisement with a tagline of Hamara Bajaj, but the upcoming one may come in e-scooter avatar.
According to a report of Bike Dekho, Bajaj is once again gearing up to make a comeback in this segment albeit with an electric scooter. It will be launched in the market through Bajaj Urban, which is electric division of Bajaj Auto.
It is being expected to be styled as per the old model, which will be reminiscent of scooters with retro look. According to Zee News report, the overall look of the scooter will be strong with wide front apron, curved side panels and large rear view mirror. It may come with alloy wheels, front and rear disc brakes, LED headlamps and tail lights.
Bajaj Chetak scooter was discontinued after Rahul Bajaj's son Rajiv Bajaj took over the reins of the company in the year 2006. Bajaj Chetak was the last scooter to come with gears. After Bajaj Chetak, the company had launched its automatic scooter, Bajaj Crystal, but due to lack of demand, it failed to woo the buyers. Currently, the company has mainly focused on manufacturing bikes.
