Jaguar Land Rover India (JLR) has finally initiated sale of locally manufactured model Range Rover Velar in the country. The made-in-India Velar starts a price of Rs 72.47 lakh (ex-showroom) which is a massive drop of around Rs 25 lakh as compared to the completely built units (CBU) variants of the model.
Available in two powertrains, 2.0 l Petrol (184 kW) and 2.0 l Diesel (132 kW), the locally manufactured Velar offers a seamless blend of reductionism and elegance. The Velar’s local manufacturing will now enable Jaguar Land Rover India to gain a competitive edge within the Indian luxury SUV segment.
In the petrol P250 variant puts out 247 bhp and 365 Nm of peak torque and can clock triple digit speeds in 7.1 seconds. The 2-litre motor in the diesel D180 churns out 177 bhp and 430 Nm of peak torque and can reach to 100 kmph in 8.9 seconds. The car also sports all-terrain progress control (ATPC) system which configures the electronics according to the drive terrain.
In terms of design, Velar remains identical to the imported SUV and will retain the distinctive low waistline profile along with all-LED headlamps, deployable flush handles and an integrated rear spoiler. The cabin of the brand new Velar will also get all the features such as configurable ambient lighting, sliding panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control and the 10-inch dual touchscreens.

Importantly, Land Rover range in India includes the Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, all-new Discovery, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover.
