Kia Motors will officially enter the Indian market on August 22, 2019 with the launch of much-anticipated Seltos. Last month, Kia Motors had announced that the official bookings for the upcoming Seltos will start in July. Although the carmaker had not revealed the exact date, speculations are now being made that the bookings will commence by the middle of this month.
In the meantime, a report by AUTOCAR has claimed that Kia Seltos bookings will officially begin on July 15 across the company dealerships as well as the website.
The price of Seltos is expected to be between Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming SUV will be up against Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier and MG Hector in the Indian market.
Kia Seltos will come with BS VI compliant powertrain. The SUV will have an option of 1.4 litre Turbo GDI petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The Seltos will be offered with multiple automatic transmission options like IVT, 7-speed DCT and 6-speed AT and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The compact SUV will be available in normal, eco and sports drive modes.
On the features front, the mid-size SUV will have the iconic tiger-nose grille with full LED headlamps on the front. It will also come with vertically housed LED fog lamps. On the rear, the car will be equipped with LED taillights and dual exhaust pipes. Along with 17-inch five-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels, the compact SUV will come with roof rails and shark fin antenna.
Inside the cabin, the new Kia Seltos will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen audio video navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The compact SUV will also get features like 8-inch HUD (Heads Up Display), blind-spot view monitor, EPS (Electronic Power Steering), eco coating, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and push-button start/stop.
On the safety features front, the car will carry multiple airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and BA (Brake Assist), reverse parking sensors and camera, the compact SUV also gets VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), TCS (Traction Control System) and HAC (Hill-start Assist Control). There will be a 360-degree camera as well.
