Kia Motor India has recently unveiled Seltos in the country and since its launch, the car has become talk of the town. Seltos, which has a variety of engine, stylish looks and impressive features, will be up against the segment leader Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. Which one is better? Let’s find out.

Kia Seltos will come with BS VI compliant powertrain.

Kia Seltos will come with an option of 1.4 litre Turbo GDI petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. It will also come with multiple automatic transmission options like IVT, 7-speed DCT and 6-speed AT and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The compact SUV will be available in normal, eco and sports drive modes.

The mid-size SUV will have the iconic tiger-nose grille with full LED headlamps on the front and vertically housed LED fog lamps. On the rear, the car will be equipped with LED taillights and dual exhaust pipes.

Along with 17-inch five-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels, the compact SUV will come with roof rails and shark fin antenna.

Inside the cabin, the new Kia Seltos will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen audio video navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

The compact SUV will also get features like 8-inch HUD (Heads Up Display), blind-spot view monitor, EPS (Electronic Power Steering), eco coating, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and push-button start/stop.

On the safety features front, the car will carry multiple airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and BA (Brake Assist), reverse parking sensors and camera, the compact SUV also gets VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), TCS (Traction Control System) and HAC (Hill-start Assist Control). There will be a 360-degree camera as well.

The price of Seltos is expected to be between Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Creta

The length and width of Hyundai Creta is 4,270 mm and 1,780 mm respectively. Hyundai Creta has multiple engines to offer. Starting with the diesel, there is a 1.4-litre CRDi engine which produces 88 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

It also offers more powerful 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, CRDi diesel engine which produces 126 bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard and to its advantage has the six-speed torque converter unit as an option in the SX variant. Then there is a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, VTVT petrol motor which produces 121 bhp and 151 Nm of peak torque. It is also mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The six-speed automatic is optional on the SX variant. 

Hyundai Creta comes with features including sunroof, wireless charging dock, wristband entry, touchscreen unit which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, engine start-stop button etc.

Hyundai Creta is priced between the range of Rs 10-15.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
