Maruti Suzuki Exports One Millionth Car From Mundra Port: Details Inside

India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki on Thursday said that it has exported 1 millionth car from Gujarat's Mundra port to Chile. It is to be noted that one millionth unit was a Maruti Suzuki Dzire draped in Oxford Blue shade and was headed to Chile.

Maruti Suzuki Exports One Millionth Car From Mundra Port: Details Inside

India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki on Thursday said that it has exported 1 millionth car from Gujarat's Mundra port to Chile. It is to be noted that one millionth unit was a Maruti Suzuki Dzire draped in Oxford Blue shade and was headed to Chile. In a press release, Maruti Suzuki also stated that with shipments to more than 125 countries, cumulative exports cross over 1.8 million units.  

Commenting on the achievement, Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, "Within a decade of commencement of exports from Mundra, we achieved the significant milestone of shipping one-millionth car. At Maruti Suzuki, we have always aligned our exports strategy to keep pace with the changing market scenario." 

He also said, "Maruti Suzuki exports are aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship vision of “Make in India”. The efforts by Maruti Suzuki reflect India’s capabilities of manufacturing cars that meet global standards of quality, safety, design and technology." 

It is worth mentioning here that Mundra port is Maruti Suzuki’s second car terminal port and commenced exports in the year 2009. Maruti Suzuki majorly exports to Latin America, Far Eastern and European markets of Maruti Suzuki. the carmaker exports vehicles from Mumbai port as well. Maruti Suzuki has a Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI) facility along with stockyard at the Mundra port. The company further noted that it exports 14 models to international markets including Alto K10, Celerio, Baleno, Ignis and Dzire. 

The country’s largest car-maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) saw its market share dip by over 2 percentage points during the period under review and slip below 50 per cent in the domestic passenger vehicle segment in April-August. The company sold 5,55,064 units this fiscal as compared with 7,57,289 units during April-August previous year. It's market share has come down from 52.16 per cent last year to 49.83 per cent in the April-August this fiscal. Overall PV sales during the April-August of the current fiscal stands at 11,09,930 units as compared to 14,51,647 units.
