Maruti Suzuki India sales fall for sixth consecutive month, witness 35 per cent decline in July 2019. It is projected that the company’s growth was affected due to the slump in the Indian auto market.

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker, on Thursday announced its sales report for July this year. It is projected that the company’s growth was affected due to the slump in the Indian auto market. Maruti Suzuki today reported a 35.1 per cent decline in monthly sales. It is to be noted that Maruti Suzuki sold 1,00,006 in July 2019 as compared to the 1,54,150 units sold in the same month last year.

According to a report published by NDTV’s carandbike, Maruti Suzuki's sales in the time period of April to July stood at 4,74,487 units which is a decrease of 23.2 per cent against 617,990 units which were sold in the same period last year. It is worth mentioning here that Maruti's sales also include 1796 units of the Baleno premium hatchback which have been supplied to Toyota.

Maruti saw a decline in sales across segments, except the entry-level mini segment. Sales of models like the Alto and WagonR recorded a fall of 69.3 per cent at 11,577 units as compared to 37,710 units which were sold in July last year.

On the other hand, the models like Dzire, Swift, Celerio, new WagonR, Baleno and Ignis witnessed a drop of 22.7 per cent at 57,512 units against 74,373 units which were sold a year ago.

Whereas the models like Vitara Brezza, Ertiga and S-Cross among others recorded a fall in sale by 38.1 per cent at 15,178 units against 24,505 units which were sold a year ago. In the meantime, the Vans segment witnessed a decline of 37.9 units selling 9814 units as compared to 15,791 units which were sold in July last year. The sales of the Ciaz witnessed growth at 2,397 units up by 4893.8 per cent.

Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki India today reported a 14 per cent decline in monthly sales to 1,24,708 units during June 2019 as against 1,44,981 units sold in June, 2018.
