The year 2018 has been year of SUVs in the Indian automobile market with several new SUVs been introduced while existing cars getting amazing updates. The SUV which has outshined others and sold the most number of cars in the last 12 months is Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza which sold a total of 1,55466 units of the compact SUV. The car in the second spot in Hyundai’s Creta with around 35,000 less units than Vitara Brezza in 2018. Hyundai sold a total of 120,905 Creta in the year 2018 which is 34,561 units less than Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza.
However, Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza’s closest rivals includes TATA Nexon and Ford Ecosport while Hyundai Creta comes in the premium SUV section and is in competition with Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.

TATA Motors sold a total of 52,519 Nexon in 2018 and Ford sold 51,973 units of Ecosport in the Indian market. It is interesting to see that the sale both Ecosport and Nexon combined is still almost 50,000 less than the sale of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
Vitara Brezza even saw 10 per cent increase in the sale in the year 2018 compared to 2017. In the year 2017, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 140,945 units of Vitara Brezza which was launched in 2016.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza comes with 1248 cc four-cylinder DDiS 200 diesel engine which can produce 88.5 bhp of power @ 4000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @1750 rpm. It is mated with 5-speed manual transmission.
The Vitara Brezza is equipped with dual airbags, Anti-locking Braking System with EBD, Suzuki TECT (Total Effective Control Technology) and rear parking sensors.

The company claims a mileage of 24.3 kmpl for Vitara Brezza. The compact SUV is available in seven variants, starting from price range of Rs 767,120 to Rs 10,42,119.
