Mercedes Benz has unveiled a new variant of the recently updated C-Class sedan called the C-200 Progressive at a price of Rs 43.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new version of the car will be available in both petrol and mild-hybrid tech. The C-200 is build on the C-Class facelift which was launched in September 20, 2018 with single diesel engine. Now, the C-200 Progressive will sport a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine which will produce 181 bhp of power at 5,800-6,100 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 3,000-4,000 rpm.

Earlier diesel version of single diesel engine available in two states of tune – 194hp in the C 220d and 245hp in the C 300d. 

Mercedes Benz claims that the new C-200 Progressive can achieve 0-100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds and can speed up as much as 239 km/h.

C-Class Progressive’s engine is mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission and 48V hybrid system that has brake energy recuperation and EQ Boost function.

It is currently available in only petrol variant and sport features on the C220d Progressive including LED headlamps, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch screen for the COMAND infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, park assist and ambient lighting in 64 colours.

Some of the other features includes rain sensing wipers, reversing camera, park assist, cruise control, active bonnet, adaptive brake lights and Presafe.

The C-class range in India now includes the C 220d Prime at Rs 40.00 lakh, C 200 Progressive at Rs 43.46 lakh, C 220d Progressive at Rs 44.25 lakh, C 300d at Rs 48.50 lakh and the C 300 Cabriolet at Rs 65.25 lakh.

Mercedes Benz C-Class sedan will be in direct competition with BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Volvo S60 and Jaguar’s XE.

Recently, Mercedes launched a new version of its premium SUV AMG G 63 priced at Rs 2.19 crore (ex-showroom). The model comes powered by a 4-litre V8 biturbo diesel engine that generates 585 hp of power. It can attain 100 km/h from standstill in 4.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 220 km/h.
