Mercedes-Benz G 350d has been launched in India at the price of Rs 1.5 Crore (ex-showroom, India). On the competition front in India, the newly-launched Mercedes-Benz G 350d is up against the Range Rover Sport, Porsche Cayenne, and the Land Rover Defender. 

Mercedes-Benz India MD and CEO Martin Schwenk said, "The G-Class has been unparalleled and unrivalled around the world, since its inception in 1979. It is the benchmark amongst luxury off-road vehicles. Today, Mercedes-Benz offers the fans and customers in India the first-ever diesel G-Class, the Mercedes-Benz G 350 d. The G 350 d with limitless customization possibilities is positioned as a lifestyle vehicle for aficionados, who want a highly personalized vehicle, which is an expression of their dynamic personality. The famed off-roading capabilities of the G-Class add to the dynamic appeal of the vehicle." 

"We start our product offensive for 2019 today and there cannot be a better vehicle to make an impression other than with the iconic G-Class. With the new G 350 d, we are glad to offer over 15 speciality and AMG cars for our discerning customers. The G-Class is an outstanding vehicle that combines serious off-roading capabilities combined with daily driving pleasures," he added. 

Mercedes-Benz G 350d comes equipped with the 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder diesel that churns out 282 bhp and 600 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. According to a report of NDTV’s carandbike, the G 350d is a off-roader and comes with three differential locks for the front and rear axle, as well as a centre differential. Also, there is a permanent All-Wheel Drive and gas filled shock absorbers. 

On the outside, the Mercedes-Benz G 350d gets PanAmericana grille, a revised bumper with smaller air intakes, and twin exhausts at the rear, in place of quad exhausts with two on each side sticking out below the rear doors. The SUV looks menacing with its boxy proportions, round headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights and LED taillights. Also, the grille gets the massive three-pointed star logo.

Inside, the newly-launched SUV of Mercedes-Benz gets digital instrument console and an extended 12.3-inch display for the infotainment system that runs the latest MBUX interface. It also gets different steering wheel. The seats of the car are upholstered in Artica leather instead of Nappa. Importantly, the Mercedes G 350d comes to India as a CBU (completely built-up) unit. The customers can also opt for the Star Ease service package with the new G 350 d starting at Rs 79,500 for a period of two years.
