Marquee British Automaker MG Motor (Morris Garages) has recently launched Hector SUV. Not only looks, but the SUV is also feature-rich. Sporting 19 exclusive features, MG's first product in India will definitely rock the market. However, a major challenge to MG Hector will come from Tata Harrier and Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. So, let's find out how these three vehicles fare against each other? Details below: 

MG Hector 

Talking about the dimensions, the length and width of MG Hector is 4,655 mm and 1,835 mm respectively. The height and wheelbase of MG Hector are 1,760 mm and 2,750 mm respectively.

In terms of the engine, MG Hector comes ith the option of both, petrol and diesel powertrains. There is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine good for 143 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque, with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox. You can have it with a 6-speed DCT (Double Clutch Transmission) also. Then there is a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel motor producing 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. It is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. 

Hector also gets a segment first 48V Hybrid System with the petrol trim. Boasting of better fuel efficiency and lower emissions, this variant also gets a 6-speed manual gearbox.

MG Hector comes with the features including LED headlamps and front and rear fog lamps, LED DRLs and tail lamps, dual tone machined alloys and floating light turn indicators. There will be a 7-inch coloured MID and a 10.4-inch HD touchscreen AVN system. It also features the next-gen iSMART connectivity technology. 

Other features the SUV offers include a premium cabin equipped with power adjustable seats, electronic parking brake, 360-degree camera and cruise control.It is to be noted that MG Motor India has not revealed the prices of the new Hector yet. 

Tata Harrier 

Talking about the dimensions, the length and width of Tata Harrier is 4598 mm and 1,894 mm respectively. The height and wheelbase of Tata Harrier are 1,706 mm and 2,741 mm respectively.

In the Harrier, you will get only one engine option. Harrier comes with a Kryotec 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that makes 140 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. There is no automatic transmission option avaialble in the car.  

Tata Harrier comes with features including 3D LED tail lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, Xenon HID projector headlamps and  dual function LED DRLs with turn indicators. It also has a Floating Island 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.  Interestingly, there are 9 JBL speakers including four speakers, four tweeters and a subwoofer. 

Tata Harrier is priced between Rs 12.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs 16.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). 

Hyundai Creta 

The length and width of Hyundai Creta is 4,270 mm and 1,780 mm respectively. The height and wheelbase of Tata Harrier are 1,630 mm and 2,590 mm respectively.

Hyundai Creta has multiple engines to offer. Starting with the diesel, there is a 1.4-litre CRDi engine which produces 88 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. 

It also offers more powerful 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, CRDi diesel engine which produces 126 bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard and to its advantage has the six-speed torque converter unit as an option in the SX variant. Then there is a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, VTVT petrol motor which produces 121 bhp and 151 Nm of peak torque. It is also mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The six-speed automatic is optional on the SX variant.  

Hyundai Creta  comes with features including sunroof, wireless charging dock, wristband entry, touchscreen unit which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, engine start-stop button etc. 

Hyundai Creta  is priced between the range of Rs 10-15.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
