With the launch of Hector SUV, MG Motors entered the Indian market on a positive note. And now, the automaker is all set to launch its maiden electric vehicle named as ZS EV. According to an exclusive report of OVERDRIVE, MG ZS EV will be launched in India by December this year.
In an interaction with OVERDRIVE, Rajeev Chaba, India head of MG Motors, said that his company ill launch the MG ZS EV in India by December. “The company will launch the electric SUV in five cities, to begin with. Once there is greater acceptance, infrastructure, and a trained dealer network, the EV will be launched in more cities,” he added.
Rajeev Chaba further stated that the MG Hector's production schedule will not affect the ZS EV either as the two cars are independent programmes and built on separate lines.
According to OVERDRIVE, MG ZS EV is being brought in as a CBU wherein 250 units will be imported from Shanghai. The automaker claims that the ZS EV will be a global offering and will have a driving range of 350km in one single charge. MG ZS EV is likely to be powered by a 52.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It is worth mentioning here that a full charge could take eight hours from a wall charger.

To install 50 KW CCS/CHAdeMO DC fast Public Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles across MG's showrooms in 5 cities including Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, MG Motors has partnered with Fortum. Importantly, the firm has also partnered with Delta Electronics, a player in the AC charging space, to develop EV infrastructure.
