Tata Motors has finally confirmed the official name of its upcoming premium hatchback 45X concept car which was revealed at the 2018 Auto Expo. It is Tata Altroz and the company filed a trademark application for the name which is derived from the albatross sea bird. A teaser was also released recently which said the Altroz will “stand for agility, performance and efficiency” and will boast "best-in-class performance and in-cabin space".
Mayank Pareek, President of passenger vehicle business unit of Tata Motors told reporters about the launch of 45X, "We are going to launch it after six-seven months, in quarter second. Against the car industry growth of 4.4 per cent from April to December in the current fiscal, Tata Motor's growth was 21.4 per cent. In Rajasthan also, the company grew at 30 per cent against the industry growth of 6-7 per cent’’.

On the occasion of name announcing for the Tata’s concept car, he said, “We are extremely elated to announce the name of our upcoming model, which will redefine the premium hatchback segment for the industry. With superlative design elements and a versatile architecture, the Tata Altroz is the perfect amalgamation of futuristic design, advanced technology, class leading connectivity, thrilling performance and smart packaging. We are excited to introduce this product to our customers and are gearing up for its commercial launch in mid - 2019. With Turnaround 2.0 now in full swing, we aim to continue winning sustainably in the PV segment through such timely product interventions’’.
Tata Altroz, the hatchback to come with a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.05-litre diesel engine. The car will also feature large wheel arches and also bolder styling. Initially, the Tata 45X is likely to come with only a manual transmission. The Tata 45X is based on the Advanced Modular Platform (AMP), now named Alpha and features the brand's Impact 2.0 design philosophy. The tail lights also seem to be slim and sweeping.
As per some reports, Tata to launch the Altroz in the month of Ausgust and the car will be in direct competition with Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz.
