The wait for the Tata Nexon is over as India's largest automotive manufacturer Tata Motors has announced to launch its much-awaited SUV on September 21 in India.

The company had started the bookings for the new entrant from September 11 for just Rs 11,000.

As per reports, the company has added two new engines — the 1.2L turbocharged petrol and the 1.5L diesel — to its powertrain portfolio. These engine option will be available in the new SUV Nexon.

The Nexon is the short form of Next-On and signifies next level of things. The Nexon made its debut at the Auto Expo 2016, the company said in a release. Designed at Tata Motors in-house facility in Pune, the engines have been indigenously developed with inputs from renowned global technology suppliers like AVL, Bosch, Mahale and Honeywell, the company said.

While the Revotron engines will be manufactured at the Sanand facility, the Revotorq engines will be produced at the Ranjangaon facility, the company added.

On the occasion, Mayank Pareek, president, passenger vehicles business unit at Tata Motors said, "We are not leaving any stones unturned while we prepare to launch the all new Nexon.""Both these engines have been designed and developed after extensive feedback from auto enthusiasts, expert drivers, followed by extensive testing across India, on different terrains," he said.

"We are confident that this new family of engines will further help us build our brand and deliver a memorable experience on-road," Pareek added. He also said that the new engines will be light on weight and low on friction, delivering high performance and fuel economy.
