Indian automaker Tata Motors launched the BSVI compliant and facelifted variant of its popular hatchback Tiago. The prices of the new car begins from Rs 4.6 lakh which is Rs 5000 more than its previous variant. However, the facelift version is for the petrol version only which means diesel variant will not be coming with any facelift.
Vehicle safety group Global NCAP on Wednesday said that Tata Motors’ compact car Tiago achieved four star rating for adult occupant protection in a crash test.
The car achieved three stars for child occupant protection in the #SaferCarsForIndia crash test, Global NCAP said in a statement. Vehicle safety group said it tested Tigor model as Tiago and Tigor are the same car in the front and passenger compartment.
Tigor/Tiago offers two frontal airbags as standard. Its structure and footwell area have been rated as unstable. Head and neck protection for adult occupants was good, it added.
“Chest protection for passenger was adequate and marginal for the driver. Femur and knees showed marginal protection as there is risk of contracting dangerous structures behind the fascia,” it said. In terms of child occupant protection, the car scored three stars. The Tigor/Tiago does not offer three point belt in all seating positions and does not offer ISOFIX anchorages, it said.
Tata Tiago’s petrol engine comes with 1,199cc in an in-line three layout and produces 86PS at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 3,300rpm. The hatchback will be offered with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard and an optional AMT.
On the inside, a steering wheel and a 7-inch infotainment system along with new seat upholstery are the new addition with the facelift. The infotainment system supports both Android Auto and Apple Play.
The car comes equipped with reverse camera assist. ABS and EBD come standard on the vehicle.
