German automaker Volkswagen had launched the Polo VRS, the next version of Polo GT TSI, in its Indonesian sub-continent at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show.
With some cosmetic add-ons, the model also gets an upgrade in the power system. The automobile comes powered with a 1.2-litre engine turbocharged with four-cylinder TSI petrol engine that eventually develops 140hp and 230Nm of peak torque.
As compared to the engine of the earlier Polo GT TSI, which runs as the fifth-generation in India, the VRS gets an additional 35hp of power and 55Nm of torque.
The VRS engine comes mated to a seven-speed DSG twin-clutch automatic transmission gear.
Apart from the change in the engine, the Polo VRS gets black colour touches on the front and the rear end bumper with a silver-finished lining, black roof-mounted rear spoiler, deep black alloy wheels, blackened wing mirror, black side skirts, and extensions on the rear bumper.
The company also added a premium audio system with USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity, along with a side-armrest for the driver.
Coming to the price, the Polo VRS has been put for 308 million in the Indonesian Rupiah, which converts it into around Rs 14.69 lakh for the Indian market, which makes the automobile Rs 1.43 lakh more expensive than its predecessor, Polo GT TSI.
As for the launch in the Indian market, the company has yet not made any claims. But since the VRS is based on the GT TSI, which is exported from the Pune plant in India, it can be hoped that the beast will likely hit the Indian market soon.
