Volvo India launched its new premium SUV in India, XC60, and priced the car at an ex-showroom price of Rs 55.90 lakh.
The automobile, which is based on the company’s latest Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, comes in only one variant, ‘Inscription’, which is fully loaded with features.
This is the second-gen Volvo XC60 launched in India that is set to replace the older version which has been on sale since 2011.
The new XC60 competes with automobiles like Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Jaguar F-Pace, and also the upcoming Lexus NX300h, which is to be launched soon.
Driving the car to power is its 1,969 cc four-cylinder twin-turbocharged diesel engine that brings out a maximum of 233 bhp at 4000 rpm and advances a peak force of 480 Nm at 1750-225- rpm.
The oil burner comes mated to an 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmission which sends power to all the four wheels. Globally, the Volvo XC60 is offered with a couple of petrol engines as well as 2-litre turbocharged units.
The automobile company has said that the petrol variant of XC60 will be launched later in India. As of now, only the diesel version will be available in the Indian market.
The new Volvo borrows a lot of its outside designs from the older XC90, the company’s flagship SUV in India.
On the upfront, the beast comes with a multi-slat chrome grille, edged by a pair of stylish LED headlamps with Thor’s hammer LED daytime running lamps.
The front bumper is sculpted and comes with subtle lines, a wide central airdam and some unique stylish chrome elements on either side. A pair of small LED foglamps are added to the exterior as well.
The height of the new-gen XC60 is a bit shorter and wider as compared to the XC90. Heighted at 1658 mm, the length of the car comes as 4688 mm and the width as 1902 mm, along with a wheel base of 2865 mm.
The car comes with a stylish set of alloy wheels along with electrically operable ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights, prominent character lines and a bold shoulder line.

The rear part, on the other hand, is stacked with LED taillamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a rear bumper and chrome accents along the reflectors and chrome-tipped horizontal dual exhaust pipes.
The features of the inside come with cooled/heated front seats offering a massage, a 9.0-inch centre Sensus touchscreen system, driver assist features like 360-degree camera, semi-automatic parking, blind-spot assist and lane departure warning, besides radar-based safety features like adaptive cruise control.
