Known for his continued support of inclusive and socially impactful initiatives, Venugopal Naidu Puvvada, tech entrepreneur and advocate for accessibility, recently visited Mitra Jyothi, a pioneering non-profit dedicated to empowering the visually impaired.

Founded by Ms. Madhu Singhal, Mitra Jyothi was established with the mission to help individuals with visual challenges lead independent and dignified lives. For over three decades, the organization has provided access to education, skills training, and assistive services that build self-reliance.

During his visit, Venugopal explored the organization’s core programs, including its Braille printing facility, which converts printed books into accessible formats, and its digital literacy lab, where 1000+ visually impaired individuals are trained in using computers and essential software. He also learned about Mitra Jyothi’s residential education support, which enables students to pursue higher education, from undergraduate degrees to doctorates, with the help of assistive devices, mobility training, and accessible learning resources.

“The work being done at Mitra Jyothi is deeply inspiring,” said Venugopal. “It’s heartening to see how focused; grassroots efforts can lead to real empowerment. Their approach to enabling independent living for the visually impaired through education, mobility, and technology is something every institution can learn from.”

Venugopal’s visit is part of his broader mission to advance techno-social service, using innovation and technology to create tangible impact in underserved communities. His ongoing efforts include supporting assistive tech solutions, promoting digital accessibility, and partnering with organizations like Mitra Jyothi to scale inclusive initiatives.

Mitra Jyothi works with over 40 schools across Karnataka and has extended its outreach to several institutions in Andhra Pradesh, offering a holistic model of inclusion that combines education, accessibility, and empowerment.

Venugopal’s visit highlights the growing momentum among changemakers to support inclusive ecosystems and ensure equitable opportunities for all.
