Jio phone bookings will officially begin from August 24

New Delhi:

Jio phone bookings will begin officially from August 24 (both offline and online), but some retailers have started taking pre-orders for the handset. As the phone has been launched at an effective price of Rs 0, the demand is bound to be sky high.

So it is important that people should pre-book the device at the earliest – as the Jio Phone will be sold on a first-come-first-basis.

Reportedly, a security deposit of Rs 1,500 needs to be paid at the hour of picking up the handset.

Everything you need to know about booking of your Jio Phone:

# To book a Jio Phone, you will have to submit a copy of your Aadhaar card with the authorised Jio retailer.

# A person will receive only one phone against one Aadhaar number.

# After submitting the Aadhaar number, the buyer’s details will be uploaded into centralised software that will assign him/her a token number. The buyer will have to cite the token number while picking up the phone.

# You need not pay anything when you submit your Aadhaar number. You will have to give Rs 1,500 payment to retailer when you pick up the unit assigned to you from the offline retail store.

# Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has said that the Rs 1500 amount will be refunded after 36 months.

# The Jio Phone delivery date for those who place the order right now will be between September 1 and September 4.

Jio has 125 million users since its launch in September last year. Out of the 78 crore phones in India, Ambani had said that 50 crore are feature phones that cannot be used for Internet or data usage. The new phone would give “affordable” device to these 50 crore users and end the digital exclusion in India.
