The first budget in the second term of the Narendra Modi government will be presented on February 1. The Budget 2020 session is being held in two phases from January 31 to April 3. The first phase of the session will be from January 31 to February 11 and the second will be from March 2 to April 3. The last budget raised some of the allocations supporting the vision of healthcare for all and importantly brought the idea of a healthy India. In her maiden budget speech, last year, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman allocated Rs 64,559 crore to the ministry of health and family welfare, which contributes to 2.32 per cent of the total budget and 0.34 per cent of the country’s GDP.
Of the total amount, Rs 62,659 crore were allocated for health and family welfare department, whereas Rs 1,900 crore were set aside for research.
