Latest entrant in the telecom foray, Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited has claimed that it has established a new world record by enrolling 16 million users after its first month of inception. Reliance Jio has largest bandwidth for 4G in the country.

Reliance Jio asserted that it has grown faster than any other telecom operator or start up in the world including the likes of Facebook, Whatsapp and Snapchat. It owns spectrum in 800 MHz and 1,800 MHz bands in 10 and 6 circles, respectively of the total 22 circles in India.

After starting commercial operations in September 2016, Jio has till now given a stiff competition to major telecom companies such as Airtel, Vodafone and Idea.

Showcasing its dominance in the 4G market, Jio introduced a ‘Welcome Offer’ which allows its calls and data services free of cost till December 31. It created a market crunch across other operators which initated a further price-war for providing attractive services.

In a press release, Reliance Jio Infocomm said, “We are delighted and humbled by the overwhelming response across India to the Jio Welcome Offer. Jio is built to empower every Indian with the power of data."

Further Chairman of Reliance Industries (RIL), Mukesh Ambani said, “We are delighted that people have recognized this and are utilizing our services to the fullest. We are customer-obsessed and committed to improving every day to exceed expectations of our customers.”

During RIL’s annual general meeting, Ambani expressed his views about onboarding 100 million users on Jio in the shortest time possible.

Earlier in its test phase, Jio has acquired 1.5 million users on its 4G network. Reportedly Jio rival has about 35 million users on its 3G and 4G network, while other operator Vodafone and Idea mutually account for 25 million subscribers.
