Reliance Industries Ltd chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani on Tuesday made an official announcement in Mumbai on Reliance Jio’s mobile penetration which has leapfrogged ever since the operator entered in the Indian telecom market. Reliance Jio has achieved a landmark of sorts by crossing 100-million customer mark in just 170 days of commercial launch.
Reliance Jio, which commercially launched operations on September 5, 2016, is currently offering free voice and data services under the ‘Happy New Year’ offer to its customers in India. Ambani is likely also announce its subsidised VoLTE feature phone bundled with free voice and data service.
Reliance Jio had signed a strategic partnership with Uber on Monday for the roll out of JioMoney, as one of the payment options for the latter’s services in India. Under the tie-up, Jio and Uber will offer exclusive incentives to every user paying for Uber rides through JioMoney.
