Quantum Global urges to save girl child

Taking a cue from ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative of the Union government, Quantum Global Institute of Roorkee, Uttarakhand organised a campaign to support the girl child.

While talking about the motive behind this campaign Ajay Goel, Chairman of the Campus said ''Discrimination against girls in India has been going on since ages. This campaign is mainly to unroll awareness about this Issue. Our objective is to spread awareness on saving the girl child and curbing female foeticide.''

The one month campaign in July had many programmes and grassroot initiatives to reach out to villagers in adjoining areas. Students organised Nukad Natak and Theater in various villages. Apart from this group of students are spending 3-4 hours in village every Sunday. They interact with the villagers and guide them about the problems that a girl child face during teenage.

Anurag, a participant of campaign said ''this is not only about teaching Villagers but our main motive is to ensure equality . We want a change in the mindset to be brought about in our thinking towards the girl child. We want a change in the mindset to be brought about in our thinking towards the girl child and fortunately things are getting better in Roorkee.''
