New Delhi:

SpiceJet will start flights to Silchar and Aizawl from October as the budget airline looks to boost air connectivity in the North East region. The flights are being introduced with focus to "get the north-eastern states on its pan-India radar," SpiceJet said in a release on Monday.

The carrier would deploy its Bombardier Q-400 fleet for the newly-devised schedule. "Flights to new sectors effective from October 4, include Kolkata-Silchar-Guwahati; Kolkata-Aizawl-Guwahati; Kolkata- Gorakhpur-Delhi," the release said.

The flight on Kolkata-Visakhapatnam Kolkata sector would be from November 1.

There would also be additional frequencies on Kolkata-Bagdogra and Kolkata-Guwahati routes. "North East, despite being a crucial tourist locale, has been deprived of good air connectivity.
