The rupee edged up by 4 paise to 66.87 against the dollar in early trade at the forex market on Friday on increased selling of the American currency by banks and exporters.
Besides, strong foreign fund inflows, weakness of the dollar against other currencies overseas, and a higher openingin the domestic equity market boosted the rupee value against the dollar, forex dealers said.
The rupee had recovered by 8 paise to close at 66.91 in yesterday's trade. Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex ralliled by 231.03 points, or 0.83 percent, to 27,945.40 in early trade.
