Adani Slashes CNG, Piped Cooking Gas Prices Amid Increasing Coronavirus Cases

New Delhi:

To reduce the financial burden from the people amid coronavirus outbreak, Adani Gas Ltd on Wednesday slashed the prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG). It is to be noted that Piped Natural Gas (PNG) is used for cooking in household kitchens.

The price of PNG has been deducted by Re 1 per standard cubic meter (scm). On the other hand, the CNG rates have been reduced between Rs 1.5 per kg to Rs 3.6 per kg. The company retails CNG in some districts of Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.

The price of PNG in Haryana and Gujarat has been reduced by Re 1 per scm to Rs 29.84 per scm and Rs 29.09 per scm respectively.

The CNG price in Haryana’s Mahendragarh district has been cut by Rs 3.6 per kg to Rs 54.20 per kg, while the reduction in Faridabad and Palwal districts stands at Rs 2.75 per kg to Rs 48.02 per kg. In Uttar Pradesh’s Khurja and Gujarat’s Ahmedabad and Vadodara, the reduction in CNG rate was done by Rs 2.75 per kg.

However, Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind and Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi witnessed the reduction in CNG rates by Rs 1.5.

Adani Gas said, "With the reduction in our already attractive CNG prices, our consumers shall now accrue much higher savings as compared to petrol and diesel (up to 50 per cent savings over petrol in some geographical areas)." "This will encourage all residents in our geographical areas to convert their vehicles to environmentally friendly CNG and contribute to reducing our carbon footprint," it added.

As many as 773 COVID-19 cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours, taking the total count to 5,194, the Union health ministry said on Wednesday. Whereas, the death count in India rose to 149.

It is worth mentioning here that the novel coronavirus, which originated in China, has claimed thousands of lives across the world. Over 14 lakh people have been infected with the coronavirus across the globe, with the global death toll crossing 83,000. With no known cure so far for the coronavirus, the deadly disease has become a major issue for the entire world.
