Ashwani Lohani, the CMD of Air India, on Wednesday said that the reports of VRS being offered to employees ahead of disinvestment are totally baseless and there are no such plans right now.

“Staff morale being affected is natural considering disinvestment talk, but we are strong brand with strong staff,” said Ashwani Lohani.

Earlier, there were reports that Air India is mulling a proposal to offer voluntary retirement to one-third of its employees.

The Cabinet had approved plans to privatise the loss-making airline by selling part or all of the company.
