At a time when IT industry is going through major job cuts, there’s some good news for the software professionals. Amazon India will be hiring more than 1000 professionals in a bid to push the biggest research and development in the country.
The US based e-commerce company is working on ways to increase its market share in India, with local players like Flipkart and Snapdeal also in the mix.
The e-commerce giant has advertised for over 1000 jobs related to software and information technology for its centres. The Amazon centres are located in Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai.
As a matter of fact, Amazon India has about 50,000 employees and second in terms of workforce only to US.
A look at Amazon’s job portal on Friday indicated that there are over 1200 job openings in India. Out of them, 549 positions are for the Bengaluru centre while 384 openings are for Hyderabad. Chennai centre has 143 job openings. Other centres like Mumbai, Pune and New Delhi have job openings as well.
Amazon is mainly looking to employ professionals in the field of software development. About 448 of the positions available are related to software development, programmers and data engineers.
