American e-commerce conglomerate Amazon has launched its popular Amazon prime video service in India and other 242 countries. The service is introduced in the country as a part of Rs 499 Prime service, which takes down the subscription to about Rs 50 per month.

Amazon Prime Video is the streaming-video component of Amazon Prime. Like Netflix and Hulu, Amazon Prime offers unlimited streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows.

However, unlike its two competitors, Amazon Prime also allows à la carte rentals and purchases of its content.

In the subsequent markets where the Prime service has not been launched, it is available at a standard price of $2.99 a month.

In India, Amazon Prime Video will feature 17 Indian original shows, which includes shows from AIB, Farhan Akhtar, and R. Madhavan.

To attract users, Amazon Prime Video users will also have access to the service’s US catalogue as well for now.

Amazon Prime Video features movies listed in various genres like comedy, drama action, thrillers, crime, Bollywood, animated, horror and romance.

Apart from English and Hindi, movies in Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, are also featured in the Amazon Prime Video app.

For now, Amazon is working aggressively on strengthening its content for the Indian viewers, here is a list of some of the shows featuring under Amazon Prime Video service:

1. ‘Bodhidharma’ featuring Ram Madhvani, Prasoon Joshi and Sunil Doshi

2. ‘Breathe’ by Abundantia Entertainment starring R Madhavan and Amit Sadh

3. ‘The Ministry’ by AIB and OML

4. ‘Powerplay’ from the house of Excel Media & Entertainment and starring Vivek Oberoi and Richa Chadda

5. ‘The Family' Man’ by DK Krishna and Raj Nidimoru

The Amazon Prime Video streaming service is handy to access via desktop website, as well as the Android and iOS app.
