On January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs announced the iPhone at the Macworld convention, receiving substantial media attention. Steve called the newly announced device “a widescreen iPod with touch controls, a revolutionary mobile phone and a breakthrough internet communications device.”
10 years have passed and certainly it has turned out to be Apple’s revolutionary product and has changed a lot. This device is also considered as the game changer in the smartphone arena.
The iPhone stands tall in an era where every other flagship smartphone that came along was dubbed the iPhone killer. Marking the anniversary, Apple top brass said in their notes this is just the beginning.
Apple CEO Tim Cook on the occasion of the iPhone’s 10th anniversary, said that “The best is yet to come.” “iPhone is an essential part of our customers’ lives, and today more than ever it is redefining the way we communicate, entertain, work and live,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
“iPhone set the standard for mobile computing in its first decade and we are just getting started. The best is yet to come.”
Smartphones are even playing a big role in the virtual reality trend, with people using handsets as screens inserted into headsets for exploring fantasy realms.
