Bajaj Auto has launched its much-awaited 400cc motorcycle, Dominar 400, the duped version of one of its popular Pulsar range of bikes. During the launch event which concluded in New Delhi, Bajaj announced that the Dominar 400’s price starts from Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom price New Delhi).
Bajaj Dominar 400 was first featured in at the 2014 Auto Expo with a different name- Pulsar CS400. It will directly compete against the Chennai-based niche bike maker Royal Enfield and the likes of Mahindra Mojo and KTM 390 Duke.
Bajaj Dominar 400 has derived its name from the Spanish language, where it means "to excel or exceed in power".

Bajaj Dominar 400 Engine
The Dominar 400 is loaded with a 373.2 cc single cylinder engine which comes equipped with Bajaj’s Triple-Spark ignition system technology. Pretty similar to the current generation engine of KTM Duke 390, Dominar 400’s engine produces different power and torque figures.
The Dominar 400 can sprint 0-100kph in 8.23s and can attain a top speed of 148kph. Expected to be marketed under sports-cruiser category, the Bajaj Dominar 400 comes handy with a 6-speed manual transmission with slipper clutch Design.
Bajaj Dominar 400 Design
In the department of design, the Dominar 400 seems inspired by Pulsar CS400’s concept. Getting new front and rear mudguards and grab rails, Dominar 400 features an all-digital instrument cluster for the first time. Indicators on the bike are mounted on the tank and all the switchgear are backlit to add a premium feel to the motorcycle.

The all new Dominar 400 is geared up with the telescopic front fork up front and mono shock suspension system at the rear. The Braking on Dominar 400 is managed by a disc brake setup at the front and the rear with dual channel ABS as standard across the variants.
Bajaj Dominar 400 Colour and other specifications
Bajaj Dominar 400 comes in three different colours: Midnight Blue, Twilight Plum and Moon White. The Bajaj Dominar 400 is open for booking for a token amount of Rs 9,000. Bajaj has also exclusively made online booking available.
The motorcycle is offered in two versions, with ABS priced at Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs 1.36 lakh for disc brake variant.
With the launch of the Dominar 400, Bajaj Auto is aiming at a powerful, sporty and yet an affordable motorcycle targeted at youth and first-time buyers in the country.
