Diwali 2019 Muhurt Trading: The BSE and NSE will be open for one hour of trading on October 27 evening for a special session of muhurt trading on Diwali. The session will begin with a pre-opening session between 6 pm and 6:08 pm. This will be followed by the opening bell ceremony at 6.15 pm and followed by trading up to 7.15 pm. This trading session is considered auspicious and trades conducted in this time period are expected to bring in prosperity, good fortune and wealth. BSE, Asia’s oldest stock exchange, has been holding Muhurat Trading since 1957 and NSE since 1992.

What Is Muhurat Trading?

Muhurat Trading is a special trading session held by Indian stock exchanges, BSE and NSE, on the occasion of Diwali. The one-hour session marks the beginning of new Samvat- the tradition Hindu accounting year. Some communities worshipping account books and cash chests on this occasion. Stockbrokers perform ‘Chopra Pooja’ i.e. worshipping of account books at stock exchanges, before Muhurat Trading. It is believed that buying shares on this occasion will bring the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. The market normally trades in green in Muhurt trading.
